Wild Fire Preparedness

Thursday, August 28 at 6pm

A roundtable discussion with local, regional, and state officials, fire chiefs, and key representatives of the Cape Cod National Seashore will update our community on what is being done and what should be done to prepare for and prevent a natural disaster. Lack of funding has allowed hundreds of dead trees and understory to go untouched for decades, posing risks for an area where thousands live and vacation. Fire roads now impassable, narrow access roads, and the lack of fire protection perimeters around the hundreds of houses within the National Seashore are among the many issues that will be addressed, as well as new CCNS permitting procedures for clearing. It is hoped the public roundtable will lead to the creation of a cooperative disaster preparedness plan for the region.

Free Admission

Enjoy after-event receptions in our expanded gathering space.

Most events are free unless otherwise noted.

Donations for the preservation of the historic Meeting House are appreciated.
